As age old conservationists your Maasai hosts will show you how they have lived off the land and how the local ecosystems have supported them with herbs and medicinal remedies. And from there your hosts will demonstrate how they co-exist with wildlife. The Maasai are the ultimate conservationists and seek to live with wildlife in a natural harmony. They will demonstrate how they avoid confrontation and discourage predators that follow their wanderings with their herds. And along the way you can engage with the Maasai in practicing some of their skills that they display at events in the Maasai calendar every year. One skill is club throwing that is part of a young man's transition into adult life and he has to achieve a particular level of mastery. The ensuing contest is also a way to bond with the villagers and they will relish the opportunity for you to be involved.
